An important update for Vimeo On Demand viewers

Vimeo has announced that it is discontinuing its On Demand service as of November 20, 2026. After that date, Vara will no longer be available to rent or purchase through Vimeo, and past rentals and purchases made through the platform will no longer be viewable.

This change is Vimeo’s decision and is outside our control. We’re grateful to everyone who has supported the film through Vimeo over the past 12 years, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes.  We’re working on an alternative and will share an update here soon. In the meantime, Vara remains available on Apple, Google Play and Amazon.

Vara: A Blessing is the third feature film of Bhutanese filmmaker Khyentse Norbu. His directorial debut, The Cup (1999), became an international sensation after its premiere screening at the Cannes Film Festival’s prestigious Director’s Fortnight. It went on to win critical acclaim and awards at major festivals worldwide, including Sundance, Toronto, and Pusan. Norbu’s second film, Travellers & Magicians (2003), was the first full-length feature film shot in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. Travellers & Magicians premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and went on to the Toronto  and Pusan International Film Festivals, before its international release.
